I feel like nowadays I would be looked down upon for wanting to be a stay-at-home mom over having a career. I mean there are careers I am interested in (I am going to nursing school still as long as I get in) but not more than raising a family.

Aside from not having air conditioning, it has been a pretty good summer so far. I'm starting school in about two weeks and Justin and I just celebrated our 1 year wedding anniversary. I've been staying pretty healthy, eating mostly healthy food and exercising with jenny. We keep each other motivated (i think jenny does a bit more motivating). I think when I am in school I will have more energy for exercise because I won't be picking up kids all day. I am trying to get some volunteer hours but apparently everyone volunteers in the summer and no hospitals have space! Oh well, I guess I'll just work more and save up some money (more like pay back my credit card bills from my trip to Japan). Also, I am excited to go see Hedwig and the Angry Inch live during Pride fest on June 28th.

BSG Finale

So I was a bit disappointed in the ending. It was more religious and cheesy than I would have liked. The battle scenes in the first part were great but showing the dancing japanese robot at the end in times square, c'mon. Then again it was on the scifi channel so what did i expect (at least there were no giant mutant monsters). And it isn't really over, they decided unsurprisingly to make a special from the point of view of the cylons. Way to go capitalism. I know I will watch it anyway, I just hope it is up to BSG not scifi channel standards.

Yelling at Cats

My cat somehow climbed up to the top of my closet door and just walked back and forth across the top until he got enough courage to jump down. It reminded me of one of my favorite youtube videos...yelling at cats.

Justin and I celebrated his birthday at home on friday. I made him a steak dinner and surprised him with a cake and candles that said "26." We drunkenly watched Battlestar Galactica although I missed the end.

Saturday I babysat and painted the kids nails and they were way more excited than I could have imagined. Apparently they have never had their nails painted before. Then they kept thinking their nails were still wet and wouldn't touch anything for like 2 hours, it was really funny. We also watched Nightmare Before Christmas, and the little girl kept asking me when the nightmare was coming. So cute!

I'm really excited about getting my car in about 10-14 days. I'm going to run all sorts of errands.

I have 3 more classes left in my microbiology class and then I can apply to nursing school. I really hope I get in. I will be pretty disappointed if I don't. I'm getting burned out at my current job and I want to leave soon so it will be on a good note for me.

I have been playing with Photo Booth a lot. It amuses me way more than it should.

Justin and I thought that we probably shouldn't sleep on a futon for the next couple years like we have the past two, so we went mattress shopping at sleep country with Jenny. We were expecting to just get a cheap one on sale, but deep down in my heart I wanted a Tempur-Pedic mattress and the sales guy could tell. He through in some free pillows, a frame, and a discount on the cover and it turned me into an impulse mattress buyer. Regardless of the free stuff, I wouldn't have bought it until he said we could finance it over 36 months with no interest. That's like $60 a month, which is less than cable. Yay! I am actually going to have a comfortable bed!

Snowboarding

Justin and I along with some friends went snowboarding yesterday at Steven's Pass. I really sucked at the beginning of the day and thought that I would not have fun. But I improved quickly and moved from the bunny hill to the beginner slope called "Daisy." I ate shit many, many times the first several times. Then I started to get the hang of it and by the last run I didn't fall at all. Justin did pretty well too although he was scared shitless of riding on the ski lift. The weather was also crazy while we were up there. There was practically a blizzard happening while we were boarding. It was hailing and very windy. There were even these mini tornado things popping up all over the mountain. So I am super sore in my neck and upper arms from falling and then having to push myself back up. My legs are a little sore, but I use them a lot so they were in better shape. The soreness was totally worth it though. Justin and I are thinking about getting a season pass and snowboards for next year.

A lot of the roads were closed (and still are) due to snowy/icy conditions. This one really steep road next to my house turned into a fun hill to sled on. Although our sled was really just a thin piece of plastic. That's why I busted my ass every time I went down.

We found this great store in the Lloyd Center Mall in Portland, OR. It was owned by this really cute Japanese woman and had so much great anime and Japanese stuff (I bought all of the Death Note paraphernalia!)
